Things have been more than crazy around my house for the last week or so. A friend of my daughter's needed somewhere to stay for a while and we opened our home to her. Her daddy had kicked her out and she needed somewhere to go. She was with us for 5 days and things were going so well, then on Saturday, her dad showed up to take her home. She started shaking so bad, it scared me. When she refused to go with him, it got ugly, and since I cannot go into a lot of detail, I will say that we have spent the last 2 days at the courthouse trying to help her. It hurts my heart so badly, because she was coming out of her shell and on her way to becoming a member of our family in just those 5 days. We are out of the loop now, and have not heard from her since yesterday. We are praying she is OK. She'll turn 18 in a few months, and we already assured her that she could return here with our blessing.
So that is why I have not been posting. I'll be back on task tomorrow, and I am hoping the blogging will keep my mind occupied. Tonight, hug your kids a little tighter and say a prayer for "Penguin." Pray that she stays strong and that things will work out for her. Thank you everyone! Good Night and God Bless!

Emmy Rossum's Sentimental Journey CD Review #SentimentalJourney
When it comes to music, I love a wide variety of genres. My hubby and daughter often laugh at me when they hear me singing 50's music followed by Kid Rock or Kenny Chesney. When I received the opportunity to review Emmy Rossum's new CD, Sentimental Journey, I was excited to do it. I honestly was not sure who Emmy Rossum was. I knew she looked familiar, but I had to do an internet search to find out more. As soon as the page opened, I realized that Emmy played Christine in the Phantom of the Opera, and I couldn't wait to get the cd.
Emmy will be a guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on February 6th. You can follow her on twitter too!
Rossum is also an acclaimed actress who currently stars in the Showtime series Shameless with William H. Macy. She also stars alongside Emma Thompson and Viola Davis in the upcoming feature film Beautiful Creatures, which hits theaters on February 13th.
Disclosure: I participated in this campaign for One2One Network. I received a free copy of the CD to facilitate my review. By posting, I am eligible for incentives. All opinions stated are my own.
When the CD arrived, I noticed that the songs carried you through a calendar year. Here is the Sentimental Journey Track Listing:
- “Sentimental Journey” (Les Brown, Ben Homer, Arthur Green)
- “The Object Of My Affection” (Pinky Tomlin)
- “I’m Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover “(Mort Dixon, Harry M. Woods)
- “These Foolish Things (Remind Me Of You)” (Eric Maschwitz, Jack Strachey)
- “(I’ll Be With You) In Apple Blossom Time” (Albert Von Tilzer, Neville Fleeson)
- “Summer Wind” (Heinz Meier, Johnny Mercer)
- “Many Tears Ago” (Winfield Scott)
- “All I Do Is Dream Of You” (Nacio Herb Brown, Arthur Freed)
- “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out” (Jimmy Cox)
- “Autumn Leaves” (Joseph Kosma, Jacques Prévert)
- “Things” (Bobby Darin)
- “Pretty Paper” (Willie Nelson)
There are so many beautiful songs on this CD! My daddy loved the song "Pretty Paper" and I really enjoyed Emmy's version. The music takes me back to a mellower time. Another blogger noted that the music on this CD brought pictures to her mind of USO shows during WWII. She was dead on with that. Emmy is so soulful and sings each song with such feeling. The music is really relaxing to me and my mom and grandma thought it was beautiful. Sentimental Journey can reach across generations and bring us together and leave you feeling like all is right with the world.
Emmy will be a guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on February 6th. You can follow her on twitter too!
