Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. Fun Pasta Fundraising - The Pasta Shoppe - Review & Giveaway

Disclosure: I received free product to facilitate an honest review. Receiving the product did not influence my review! All opinions are those of the Shelly's Bits and Pieces family. No monetary compensation was received. Prize fulfillment is responsibility of the sponsor.

One of my favorite things to eat is pasta!  I love pasta with Italian sauces, pasta salads, soup and much more.  Recently, we received a review box full of goodies from The Pasta Shoppe!  They offer a huge variety of products and we really fell in love with some of the awesome shapes they have.

Kat was thrilled that they sold Collegiate shaped pasta.  She is a Clemson fan, and although we did not get that to review, she liked the UNC and Cal pasta we were sent.  Kat went to a UNC game with a friend and I sent along the UNC pasta salad.  Everyone loved it, and I received several calls asking where I got it!  The fact that the pasta held it's color astounded everyone.   They have a large variety of Collegiate Pasta Salads to choose from!

We received wintertime chili and chicken noodle soup pasta and seasonings.  The shapes are adorable.  Who can resist snowflakes and snowmen or chickens.  Along with the chicken noodle soups and chilis that they offer, they also have pasta with vinaigrette mixes, easy cheesy pasta, and pasta with chicken salad mix.

With over 250 shapes to choose from, the shaped pastas are broken down into spring/summer, fall, winter, everyday, trendy &  fun, animal lovers, sports, summer fun and celebration shapes!  There are so many Pastabilities!  We also received some Spinach Basil Garlic Angel Hair pasta nests!  They are 1 oz nests and are about 100 calories per nest!

We also received some Divine Meringues.  We got the vanilla bean, and they did not even last long enough for me to take a photo.  At only 7 calories each, these delicious, melt in your mouth treats, were a huge hit!

They also have a fantastic fundraising program where you can have fun, eat pasta, and raise money for your group or organization.  EVERYONE loves pasta!  Pasta is healthy and affordable. (& easier to distribute than frozen foods, too!)  Profits are 40-50% of your sales!  Fun Pasta is easy to sell!  To request more fundraising information, click HERE! You can follow on facebook too! https://www.facebook.com/pastashoppeusa

So what do you think?  We loved everything from The Pasta Shoppe and I will be recommending the fundraising program to our athletic association.  Santa is shopping there for some stocking stuffers too!

Dreaming of a Dodge Durango at Sport Durst Chrysler Dodge Jeep

When my daddy was alive, there was no truck he loved better than a Dodge.  He never had any problems with the ones he owned over the years and when he sold used cars, the Dodge trucks would fly off the lot! Since Chefy and I have been thinking about getting a new vehicle, I've been thinking about getting a Dodge.  A truck will not do us any good, but I have fallen in love with a 2013 Dodge Durango at Sport Durst Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Ram.

It is a 2013 in a Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl color and has black interior!  The Durango is beautiful and Kat, our 15 yr old daughter, loves it!  It has front and rear air conditioning, a rear defroster, and side air bags, which are a must for us.  The only draw back for me is the gas mileage estimates of 16 city and 23 highway MPG.

What do you think?  Do you have any experience with a Dodge Durango?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Until next time, our search continues!

That Awkward Moment Red and Green Band Trailers--Embedded

Here is the green band trailer:
Here is the red band trailer:

Room on the Broom Games App

The new app is based on Penguin Group’s #1 best-selling Room on the Broom children’s picture book written by much-loved author Julia Donaldson, UK Children’s Laureate (2011-2013), and illustrator Axel Scheffler—the same author and illustrator team that created the critically-acclaimed book series, The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child. Room on the Broom is filled with humor and adventure, and teaches the importance of family, friends and teamwork!

There’s room on the broom for everyone in this high quality game app for 3–7-year-olds, featuring beautiful design based on Alex Scheffler’s original illustrations.  Offering children a safe, entertaining and interactive experience they can enjoy time and time again, Room on the Broom Games provides eight imaginative activities that players can interact and explore within, while practicing early learning skills such as counting, creativity and literacy.   Collectively, the games explore the world of Room on the Broom, complementing the experience of reading the book and watching the film. Key characters are featured and players get to help them fly, eat and explore their world. Designed to ensure players and parents feel comfortable and safe in the digital space, there are no in-app purchases.

The new Room on the Broom Games interactive app is available through the iTunes store for iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone and iPod Touch; and on GooglePlay and Amazon for Android devices, priced at $4.99.

Julia Donaldson comments, “‘When Magic Light first mentioned to me the idea of producing a game offering children a different way to engage with the Room on the Broom characters, I was confident that they would produce another beautiful high-quality product to sit alongside their films and merchandise. The games have been especially designed to echo traditional children’s games of observation and memory and are a lovely addition to the world of Room on the Broom.” She adds, “ My own favourites are feeding fries to the dragon and creating constellations of stars!”

Axel Scheffler added,  “I’m delighted to see how my original artwork has been used to create such beautifully produced games that give children the opportunity to explore the world of Room on the Broom in a whole new way.”

Fans can play with their favorite characters—Witch, Cat, Dog, Bird, Frog and Dragon in these magical games:

Looking at the Cars Online at Sport Durst Mazda

Disclosure: I will receive compensation for writing this post, however all opinions stated are honest and my own. I do not post a positive review about things I do not believe in!

We are still looking at cars online trying to get an idea of what we are wanting to purchase. Today, I was looking at Durham Mazda dealer Sport Durst.  The first thing I noticed on their website was that they had an app you could download to remind you about appointments and other things.  They have a 30 second credit app and also an Auto Trader Instant Trade In Offer.  I like that you can send them a message from the home page to ask questions too.

I was able to check out new and used cars and I really like that each car has a photo, a value, and the price Sport Durst is asking for it.  You get lots of information on each vehicle, color, mileage, interior, etc!  This way you can get a better idea of what you want before you actually go shopping.  If you go in person by October 30, make sure you fill out the pop up form thait appears on the website and you can get a $25 VISA gift card!  That is added incentive!

We are still checking out vehicles online!  If you are interested in a new Mazda, give Sport Durst Mazda a look!

Trying New Products from Manischewitz Review & Giveaway

Disclosure:  Product and information was provided to me to facilitate a review. No monetary compensation was received.  All opinions stated are honest and are those of the Shelly's Bits & Pieces family.   Prize fulfillment is the responsibility of the sponsor.

Being married to a chef has been a blessing, because he always knows how to season foods to make them flavorful.  I do my best, but I will never be considered a chef!  My grandma taught me how to cook Southern style, but that is not always the healthiest way.  (But it does taste good)

When I am left to prepare dinner, I usually fall back on my usual sides like rice or mashed potatoes.  Chefy knows how to kick the flavor up, but I don't.  I have always been interested in trying new side dishes, but had no idea where to start.  Recently, I had the opportunity to review some new products from Manischewitz, and I was thrilled that the box included Couscous!  I had heard of it before, but had never tried it.  What was I waiting for?

My review box included 2 different flavors of Couscous Mixes, and they were a huge hit with my family.  Both boxes were eaten within three days!

I cooked baked chicken and made the Roasted Garlic and Olive Oil Couscous as a side.  WOW!  Kat and I were shocked at how much we liked it!  It was not heavy at all and had a tasty and delicate texture.  We made grilled chicken two nights later and made the Mushroom and Olive Oil Couscous as a side, and it was as delicious as the other.  These have now been added to our grocery list.

I also received Rye Tam Tam Crackers and the Wide Egg Noodles to review.  I am not a huge rye lover, but Chefy loved the Manischewitz® Rye Tam Tam Crackers .  He did share them with Kat, and they both are covering the crackers with cheese every chance they get!
The Manischewitz® Wide Egg Noodles were delicious in my homemade chicken noodle soup.  I love the texture and overall taste of the noodle.  They are keepers for sure!

Manischewitz has also just released the beta version of The Manischewitz Recipe & Holiday Guide.

THE STARVING GAMES ~ Movie Parody coming 11/08/2013

BEFORE YOU CATCH FIRE, CATCH-UP WITH KETCHUP’S
THE STARVING GAMES*
Written and Directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer
Opens in Select Cities, VOD and Digital Download
November 8, 2013
(*you knew this was coming)

Set in the most depressing corner of a post-apocalyptic future, our hero Kantmiss Evershot (Maiara Walsh) volunteers to take her manipulative younger sister’s place in the 75th annual “Starving Games.” In doing so, she must leave behind her smoldering just-a-friend Dale (Brant Daugherty) and team up with the geeky baker’s son Peter Malarkey (Cody Allen Christian) in a fight for her life.  But wait, there’s more!  She could also win an old ham, a coupon for a footlong sub at a six-inch price, and a partially-eaten pickle!

In The Starving Games, Friedberg and Seltzer’s sixth cinematic spoof of popular box-office hits, the prolific parody duo has its sights trained on the adventure blockbuster The Hunger Games!  It’s all the laughs and half the calories as they sling dozens of cock-eyed, barbed arrows at sci-fi, action and fantasy films from The Avengers and Oz the Great and Powerful to pop culture characters and celebrities like Harry Potter and Taylor Swift.

The Starving Games stars Maiara Walsh (“Switched at Birth”) as Kantmiss Evershot, the eagle-eyed archer whose bravery and skills inspire the masses along with trending topics on Twitter®; Cody Allen Christian (“Surrogates,” “Pretty Little Liars,”) as Peter Malarkey, the geeky young man who volunteers alongside Kantmiss; Brant Daugherty (“Dancing with the Stars,” “Pretty Little Liars,” “Days of Our Lives”) as Dale, Kantmiss’s beau who’s left behind to watch – and simmer; Ross Wyngaarden (“Bonnie & Clyde: Justified”) as Marco, a ruthless player handy with a blade; Dean West (“Monster Hunters”) as Seleca, the game’s controller and Diedrich Bader (Vampires Suck, Meet the Spartans) as President Snowballs, the malevolent, but ratings-conscious ruler.  The comedy is directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (Meet the Spartans, Vampires Suck) and is produced by Peter Safran (The Conjuring, Vampires Suck).

Rated PG-13 for crude and sexual content, comic violence, language and partial nudity.

Total Runtime: 83 minutes

Busy, Busy, Busy

I have been very busy these last few days.  Our church is having a harvest sale on Saturday (later today), and I have been doing some things for that.  We had a peeling and chopping party at church on Friday morning to prep the potatoes and onions to go into the Brunswick stew that the men are cooking.  Chefy will be going to the church at 5am to help them.  My daughter and I are going over about 9-10am to help set up for the sale and for lunch.  We start serving lunch at 11am, and I know it will be busy!  Lunch consists of BBQ and Brunswick Stew...YUM!  We also have some crafts and preserves that will be sold.  All the money we raise goes to our WOM (Women on a Mission) fund.  We adopt families at Christmas, send money to our missionaries, pay for Vacation Bible School, and much more.  I am very excited to be helping because this is my first year being involved!

Next Friday night we have our Fall Carnival at church, and I will be BUSY again.  Our carnival is completely free, food and all, and I will be frying Oreos that night!  There will be games, hotdogs, funnel cakes, cake walks, hayrides and more!  So exciting!!  We have a great community outreach!

At some point later today or tomorrow afternoon, I will be posting 2 or 3 new giveaways as well as some other posts!  Stick around!  There will be a lot going on for the next few months here at Shelly's Bits & Pieces!

Have a blessed weekend!

DreamWorks Pictures’ THE FIFTH ESTATE Film Clip & Featurette

Disclosure: This is a non compensated post. All thoughts and opinions are those of the Shelly's Bits and Pieces family! Just wanted to pass on the information!

About the movie:

Triggering our age of high-stakes secrecy, explosive news leaks and the trafficking of classified information, WikiLeaks forever changed the game. Now, in a dramatic thriller based on real events, “The Fifth Estate” reveals the quest to expose the deceptions and corruptions of power that turned an Internet upstart into the 21st century’s most fiercely debated organization. The story begins as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his colleague Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Brühl) team up to become underground watchdogs of the privileged and powerful. On a shoestring, they create a platform that allows whistleblowers to anonymously leak covert data, shining a light on the dark recesses of government secrets and corporate crimes. Soon, they are breaking more hard news than the world’s most legendary media organizations combined. But when Assange and Berg gain access to the biggest trove of confidential intelligence documents in U.S. history, they battle each other and a defining question of our time: what are the costs of keeping secrets in a free society—and what are the costs of exposing them?"

Home Alone: The Holiday Heist on Blu-ray October 29th!

Disclosure:  This is a non compensated post.  All thoughts and opinions are those of the Shelly's Bits and Pieces family! Just wanted to pass on the information!

Ever since I watched Kevin McCallister ride his sled down the stairs of his house and out into the snow, I have been a Home Alone fan.  I bought the movie when it first was released to VHS tape and watched it so much the tape broke.  My wonderful hubby replaced the VHS with a DVD copy and I still watch it often.  It is one of my favorite Christmas movies!  I have passed the love of those movies on to my daughter and to my extended family too!

Home Alone: The Holiday Heist
In the latest installment of the Home Alone franchise, Finn Baxter and his family move from California to Maine to their new house. Finn is terrified and believes the house is haunted. While he sets up traps to catch the "ghost," his parents get stranded across town and Finn is home alone with his sister. Their house is targeted by three thieves.

This movie looks cute and I intend to check it out when it is released October 29th.  What do you think?  Are you a fan of the Home Alone movies?

Betty Crocker’s First Birthday Smash Cake Recipes

When we were getting ready to celebrate Kat's first birthday, we bought two cakes!  One cake was for us to eat and the other, smaller cake was for Kat to smash her little fists and face into!  There is nothing cuter to me than a child covered in food, and a first birthday cake is the perfect photo opp!

My only regret is that I did not make her special cake myself.  If I had known about these Betty Crocker First Birthday Smash Cake recipes back then, I would have been all over it!  You can find out more about these cakes and recipes  HERE!  I was shocked to find out how simple the recipes and ideas were!

The idea is so very cool!  Here are a few of my favorite SMASH cakes.

Checking out Special Occasion Dresses at DressFirst

My daughter, Kat, has one of the busiest personal lives I have ever seen.  She is very busy with her high school extra curricular activities, church and friends and family.  She is constantly being asked to go to parties, or to be in someone's wedding.  Finding reasonably priced formal dresses can be a huge pain!  On her upcoming schedule, is a Homecoming dance and a winter formal at school.  She wants to go in something new, in which I cannot blame her!  Our problem is finding the right dress.  Since we only have one car right now, we do most shopping on-line.  We want to see different styles and we want to have a lot of color choices too.  How hard can that be?  Harder than you can imagine!
We checked out the dresses at DressFirst and were thrilled!  We were literally on-line looking for about an hour!  Kat found so many dresses that she loved and we actually agreed on most of them!  DressFirst.com is the leading supplier of wedding gowns, special event dresses, wedding party dresses, and accessories.  They have a huge selection of high quality dresses.  The costs are lower than most I've seen, and they offer FREE shipping on ALL dresses!!  You cannot beat free!  We were thrilled to find out that the dresses she liked were available in over 20 colors!  WOW!

Here are the choices Kat is considering...

This is her favorite dress! Available in 28 colors!
She loved a lot more, but since her high school has a NO STRAPLESS rule, we had to leave those out!  The prices were reasonable and the mere fact that the shipping is free is the icing on the cake!  One thing I was really pleased about was the size ranges they offer.  They carry dresses from size 2 through size 26W!

Next time you are looking for dress for a special occasion, give DressFirst a look!  I think you will be pleasantly surprised.   I was!
