Scrabble with Power Tiles - Review and Giveaway

Disclosure:  We received a Scrabble game free of charge to facilitate our honest review and share information.  No monetary compensation was received.  All opinions are those of the Shelly's Bits and Pieces family.

One thing I inherited from my mama is my love of word games.  We would spend a lot of evenings sitting at the dining room table playing Scrabble.  She always challenged me to use longer words by adding prefixes and suffixes to words that had been played.  Although I know she could have beaten me when ever she wanted, she usually let me win.  The love of these word games just encouraged my love of reading and my desire to learn.  I have passed that love on to Kat.  She and I have crazy games that seem to go on for hours.  Chefy declines our invitation to play unless we allow him to use slang, and proper nouns.

Scrabble has recently given us more ways to play their classic word game by adding Power Tiles!  You can power up your game with Team Play and with Power Tiles, or you can play Scrabble the classic way.  It is your choice!

Did you know that there is a NATIONAL SCHOOL SCRABBLE PROGRAM?

About the program:  A SCRABBLE board game in the classroom? Of course! For years, teachers have known that SCRABBLE is a fun and innovative way for kids to develop vocabulary, spelling, math and spatial relation skills. So, Hasbro teamed up with teachers and the National SCRABBLE Association to create the National School SCRABBLE Program.

In 1992, School SCRABBLE became available nationwide. Now, more than a half million kids have SCRABBLE in over 20,000 classrooms nationwide using this program. And 95% of the teachers surveyed say the program is a good value and a solid, innovative new teaching tool.

CLICK HERE to register your School SCRABBLE Club with Hasbro to receive updates on School SCRABBLE and the 2014 National School SCRABBLE Tournament.
The 2014 National School SCRABBLE Tournament takes place April 26-27, 2014.  Teams (between grades 4-8) from the USA and Canada are invited to participate in the multi-day event that includes 8 rounds of competition and fun on-site events.  The entry fee is USD $100/team. The 2014 Champions will take home USD $10,000, plus the Champions Trophy and a great selection of Hasbro games.  Click here for more information.

I think this is a very cool idea!  I wish there had been a school Scrabble program back when I was attending. My classmates and I would have loved it!
