Initially, I was a little unsure of what to expect.  After the first few pages though, I knew this was something that I needed to read.  Every person has their own love language, and when you determine what that language is for your spouse, things just seem easier.  I'll let you in on the secret, the 5 Love Languages that Gary Chapman talks about in this book are:

As I read through the book, I began to understand more about which of these languages "spoke" to Shelly.  We have been married for 13 years and have a wonderful marriage, but every marriage can use some help with communicating.  I honestly wish this book had been available before we got married.  It would have helped me a lot in the early years.  Shelly was a lot different than the other girls I had dated, and her love language was different.  I have learned that now, and I encourage other men to read this book and learn which love language "speaks" to their spouse.

Becoming Myself DVD Bible Study Review

Many times in my life I have wondered exactly who I am.  There have been times when I felt as though I had little value and wondered if anyone would every love me or want to be with me.  Although I always knew my parents loved me, there were times when I felt all alone.  Often, I wondered if anyone else ever felt the same way.

Recently, I was blessed to be chosen to review Becoming Myself, which is a DVD Bible Study.  I have been a part of several different Bible studies in the past, and they have all taught me different things.  This Bible study actually made me realize that by "Becoming Myself," I am becoming more like Jesus.  I have always known that Jesus loves me, but this Bible study reminded me that he loves me now, with all my flaws, even when I do not love myself.  Jesus loved me and died for me long before I was ever born.  He knew all about me and He knew the life I would live and the struggles I would have.  He knew I would want to change things, and myself.  The only problem with me changing and becoming myself is that I was trying to do it all by myself, without consulting the Master Creator.  This Bible study reminded me that there were a lot of people and things that molded me into who I am now, and with the help of Jesus, I can become the me that God dreamed of!

There are 8 sessions in the Becoming Myself Bible study series, and they each are around 15 minutes long.  The sessions are thought provoking and are ideal for a small group discussion.  I plan to share this Bible study with my women's group at church.  This is a powerful study that could benefit every one.

Frosty Vox Box Review #FrostyVoxBox

I love nothing better than trying new products and sharing my experiences with others.  Recently, I received the #FrostyVoxBox from Influenster and I was thrilled with the products!

The items included in my box were:

McCormick Gourmet Thyme-  Chefy loved it!  It is a high quality spice and added an awesome flavor to my meatloaf!  We love the glass bottle.  It opens and closes easily too.

Fruit Vines Bites in Cherry Flavor-  Yummy!  My family really enjoyed the Cherry flavor. It was juicy and delicious.  Lowfat/Kosher/Vegan.

Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Decaf Green Tea-  My favorite!  I generally prefer decaffeinated beverages, so this was a huge treat for me!  It was a smooth, minty tea that was a perfect way to end my day!

EcoTools Hair Brush-  Kat and I loved this brush.  It is lightweight and the bristles glide smoothly through my hair, minimizing breakage.  The eco-friendly packaging and the bamboo handle are huge pluses too.

Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover-  I usually have skin issues with other eye makeup removers.  This worked great on all my makeup, waterproof as well as the other products.  It was very gently on my skin and it did not leave an oily residue.  Dermatologist tested.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner- I really like the pigment.  It glided on smoothly and it didn't smudge or come off when I started sweating!  Dermatologist tested.

Boots No. 7 Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced Serum -  This hypo-allergenic product works on deep lines and wrinkles!  I liked the way it felt on my face, but it was scented.  I would have preferred non scented!

NYC Expert Last Lip Color in Sugar Plum-  The color was perfect for me!  It went on smoothly and lasted throughout the day!  It did not feather, and it left my lips feeling nice and smooth!

This was a great box!  I cannot wait to see what the next VoxBox from Influenster holds!

23 Blast DVD Review and Giveaway #23BLAST

Chefy and I love to watch inspirational movies, and we especially enjoy the ones that are based on true stories.  Recently, we were given the opportunity to review 23 BLAST.  I would call it a football movie, but it is so much more.

About the movie:  As a typical teenager, Travis Freeman (Mark Hapka) is a local hero both on and off the high-school football field in his small Kentucky town, but in 1997, Travis contracts an infection that destroys his optic nerve and renders him blind overnight. With the loving help and concern of his parents, physical therapist, coach and best friend, Travis demonstrates what true bravery is: He continues to compete on the gridiron and helps his team advance to the state finals.

The above synopsis does not even begin to cover this movie.  The movie begins with some kids starting to play peewee football.  That is where Travis meets Jerry and they become best friends.  The movie moves forward to the boys playing high school football.  I loved that it gave us a back story before jumping right in to things.  The movie kept my interest from beginning to end and there were several times when I wanted to cry for Travis and for the pain his parents were feeling.  Travis' mom reminded me of myself.  After Travis went blind, she was trying to do everything for him and she babied him.  I understood her need to be MOM, even when her son needed her to be strong.  I was so happy when she backed him up toward the end of the movie.  

I do not want to give away too much about this movie, because I really think you need to see it for yourself!  23 BLAST teaches some great lessons about never giving up, bravery and faith.  It is a wonderful family movie and I would encourage you to watch it with your kids!  It is rated PG-13 because there is some underage drinking.  The drinking is noted as a negative thing, so it is not glorified.  Also...make sure you pay special attention to the preacher while they are at church.  Watch until the end and you will understand why!
