We’ve all faced circumstances that have held us captive in some regard. What has held you captive? How did you find your purpose?

CAPTIVE, based on a miraculous true story that drew the attention of the entire nation, is a thrilling drama about the spiritual collision of two broken lives.  When Brian Nichols - on the run as the subject of a city wide manhunt and desperate to make contact with his newborn son - takes recovering meth addict Ashley Smith hostage in her own apartment, she turns for guidance to Rick Warren’s best-selling inspirational book, The Purpose Driven Life.  While reading aloud, Ashley and her would-be killer each face crossroads where despair and death intersect hope.

There are times in my life when I struggled to find purpose and I felt like I was being held captive by circumstance. Through prayer and the Lord's help, I made it through.  I can only imagine how Ashley felt when she was held hostage.  It is scary to think about!

I read Captive to Chefy and we are planning to go see the movie this weekend,  While reading this book, we discussed how we would react in Ashley Smith's situation.  I do not know how I would have reacted.  More than likely, I would have ended up being shot. Ashley reading that book aloud
opened up the heart of a man who had reached an awful place in his life.  There is another book we can read aloud that will do that very thing and more, The Bible!

Here is the official movie trailer:

The movie stars David Oyelowo, who played Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the recent film, Selma and Kate Mara, who you might remember from House of Cards.

I'd love to read the book before seeing the movie -- I always try to do that when I can. I've never been held captive before and sometimes, I feel I'm still trying to find my purpose.

I want to win this because I remember when it all happened... At first it was a big deal, then I think some people looked down upon her when they found out she uses drugs and gave him some... I know this is a great book because her life has turned around for the better because of this!

I saw this book on several talk shows and remember when it happened. I really want to read the book and then see the movie. I was in a bad marriage and I felt caged and stuck feeling like there was no way out. God's love helped me through all that and I am now happily married with a fabulous man. God will give you miracles when you are happy, sad or in bad situations, you just have to believe. ncjeepster@aol.com
