Being a parent is never an easy job. We all want the best for our children and we want to protect them from the ways of the world whenever we can. One such parent is Brian Wells. He is a father who couldn't find quality entertainment for his children, so he decided to write a book. The League and the Lantern is his first book and he plans to make it the first of a series of adventure books for middle-school readers.
In The League and the Lantern, everything gets kicked into gear when a dangerous organization invades Jake Herndon’s seventh-grade sleepover. He and his two new classmates, Lucy and TJ, escape, only to face a 48-hour fight for survival on the streets of Chicago. They unravel a mystery dating back to the Civil War, as well as incredible secret about Jake’s family. Along the way they learn unexpected lessons about courage, family and friendship.
Kat and I both read the book and we enjoyed it. We loved the fact that the friends are not only different sexes, but also different races. The US is truly a melting pot and the fact that this is embraced in The League and the Lantern, really makes me happy. I was pleased that it was a clean book, free of sexual innuendo. There are so many books on the market today that can give kids the wrong idea, and I can happily say that this is not one of those. We are excited to read the next book in this series.
When you buy a copy of this book at https://leagueandlantern.com/, a book is donated to a child in need! Make sure you check out the website and follow them on social media too.
