It’s a trying time for everybody, but it’s important to focus on what matters and remember what’s important. With that in mind, don’t forget to do the following:
1. That Technology Can Help
Even if you weren’t big on technology before, it can be a great help for your time during isolation, especially if you have family and friends outside your household which you can’t see in person. Use video calling to your advantage so you can still see the faces of loved ones, and even use it to form social occasions whilst staying at home, like virtual quizzes, watching shows together through video chat or just sharing a drink.
2. Take Time for Yourself
If you’re in quarantine with family members, whether that’s parents, children or partners, then it might begin to feel a little too crowded. You may start to miss time alone. It’s important to remember that you still can. Simply communicate to your household that you’d like some space, whether this is to enjoy a hot bath without being disturbed, or privacy in an area of the house to do something alone which will relax you. Or maybe you simply want to choose what you want to do for yourself within the family space.
3. The Essentials
Don’t forget the essentials! Lockdown will be a lot easier when you have everything you need, whether it’s toiletries, healthy food or even games to pass the time. You can use price comparison sites for Coronavirus Essentials to save money and find a cheaper deal on those items which you need during quarantine.
4. That You’re Not Alone
Isolation is a very lonely time. Being separated from your normal routine and from those you love is a very trying time, and it can begin to make you feel anxious and lonely. It’s important to remember that you’re not alone. Community spirit is still in place, and organizations exist to speak to with any issues of loneliness or anxiety during this difficult time.
5. That It Isn’t Forever
It can be difficult to see the endpoint for the current situation, and it may feel like you’re going to be stuck this way forever. Keep reminding yourself that it’s only temporary and that there will be a silver lining very soon. Try to stay positive!
6. Eat Well
Eating healthily will help you feel more motivated and positive during this demanding time, as well as making sure you look after your body. Eating junk food will only leave you feeling sluggish and unmotivated, which may have a negative effect if you’re already feeling the pressures of lockdown.
7. Exercise Whenever You Can
Staying active will help both your mind and body. While lockdown measures prevent usual fitness routines, you can still do exercise at home and safely in your own space in order to make sure you’re stretching out your body and staying active. Look online for inspirational fitness videos and how other people are choosing to exercise at home.
Stay safe!
